How to Keep your children safe from flu

Worried about how to keep your kids from the flu this winter? It is not as complicated as you think. You can simply keep your family safe from the flu by following a few simple tips.



The NHS says, that it is very important for children who are ‘at risk' (ie, have basic health problems that could be worsened by getting the flu) to have their free cyclic flu vaccination every year.

Flu symptoms in children :

  • If your child has flu they may suffer quite poorly. Fever, aches and pains are the most common symptoms
  • They may also have a blocked nose and sore throat.
  • Babies and small children with flu may also show drowsy, unresponsive and floppy.
  • Flu symptoms will regularly peak after 2 to 3 days. Children should recover quickly and begin to feel much better within 5 to 8 days, or even sooner. A cough and common tiredness may last for up to 2 to 3 weeks.
